Judge rejects Google Search breakup but ends exclusive deals
In the remedy phase of the search antitrust case, a federal judge ruled Google will not be broken up but must terminate all multi-billion-dollar exclusive search agreements. The decision specifically ended Google's long-standing status as the default search engine on Apple's iPhone.
The outcome reshaped the economics of search distribution while stopping short of the structural breakup regulators had sought.
